Cold Hollow North has not been for some time.  But thanks for coming to see us anyway.  Other projects are underway.  Check back for progress reports and links to new musical things we create in the near future.  In the meantime, the folklore of how this band came to be, passed down through the ages from father to son to grandson and so forth, can be read below:

Cold Hollow North formed in late fall of 2005.  Nate and Justin had been playing music together in various bands since high school and continued that relationship into college, playing various talent competitions and special events.  Nathan and Justin met Jeff in 2001 during their freshman year of college.  Over the next few years, the three continued to write music, but never collectively as a group.  In 2005, Justin and Jeff shared an apartment and begin working on songs, and, along with Nate, decided to form Cold Hollow North.

Over the next few months, they began writing and recording songs in preparation for a stage debut.  In early 2006, Dave Passal, a close college friend who had played drums with Nathan and Justin in the past, took on the role as the drummer for Cold Hollow North.  As the months passed, the band prepared to take the stage for live performances, but in order to round out their sound, the band needed to find a bass player.  The band contacted Eric Claver, a high school friend of Jeff, and asked him to take on the role as a stage musician.

On August 30th, 2006, Cold Hollow North made their live debut at Station 4 in St. Paul MN.  The official band lineup was Nathan Willson-Broyles on lead vocals and guitar, Justin Kaatz on rhythm guitar, Jeff Forsythe on piano, Eric Claver on bass, and Dave Passal on drums.  The band performed a wide variety of original material ranging from alternative rock to darker storytelling folk songs.  The unique blend resulted in a fresh sound that soon sprouted several offers for additional shows.  Soon after the successful debut, Eric was asked to join the band as an official member.

With the early success Cold Hollow North has achieved, playing such venues as Club Underground, Station 4, 400 Bar, and headlining DEMO MN's Best of 2006 show at the world-famous 7th Street Entry, there is a bright future ahead of the band, with unlimited possibilities.
